Online Bidding Settings

The Online Bidding Settings area provides additional options to customize what guests will see on the Online Bidding site.

Access Settings:

  • If you are offering bidding prior to the live event, the Access Settings determine the audience that will have access to the bidding site. For more information, see: Online Bidding: Self-Registration

Bidding:

  • Max Bidding: If checked, the max bidding feature will be enabled. Max bidding will allow your guests to place the maximum amount they are willing to spend on a package. The system will then bid on their behalf until they are outbid.
    • Max bids are not visible to other bidders, so if another guest attempts a bid lower than the current max bid, they will be notified that another guest has already placed that bid and that they will have to try a higher bid. 

Example: If a bidder were to choose a max bid of $500 on a Package that is currently $300, and another bidder attempts to place a $400 bid, the first bidder's bid would become $400, and the second bidder would show as outbid. This would continue until another bidder placed a $600 bid on the Package at which point the first bidder would be outbid.

 

Display:

  • Project Display Name (40 character limit for most devices. Smaller devices have a 34 character limit): Will be used to display the Project's name on the Online Bidding site, in email and text messages sent regarding Online Bidding, and on Display Boards.

  • Color Theme: Click the color palette if you would like to customize the background color of the header navigation, landing page and Appeal Donation button.  Alternatively, if you know the hex code click the RGB tab and enter it into the field provided.

  • Information to display on packages:
    • Item donor name(s): If checked, the Online Bidding site will show a list of donors for each item within each Package. 
    • Value: If checked, the market value will appear for each Package.
    • Bidding history (on regular packages): If checked, guests will see the names and/or bidder numbers of other guests who are bidding on the Package and the bid amounts they have placed.
    • Bidding history (on multi-sale packages): If checked, guests will see the names and/or bidder numbers of other guests who have purchased that multiple-sale Package.

  • Bidder Name Display:
    • Show bidder’s name and bidder number: If checked, guests will see the name and bidder number of other guests on the Leaderboard Display, on the Appeal Board display and in the bidding histories.
    • Show bidder’s number: If checked, guests will see a hidden version of the name and the bidder number of other guests on the Leaderboard Display, on the Appeal Board Display and in the bidding histories.

  • Browse Page Sort Order:
    • By Package number:  If checked, the “All Packages” listing will sort the Packages in numerical order.
    • By Package’s class: If checked, the "All Packages" listing will sort the packages by the class they have been assigned to.

  • Show Sponsor tiles: If checked, guests will see Sponsor logos between Packages. Enter a number to determine the number of Packages between the Sponsor tiles.

 

Communications:

Outbid notices:

  • Send via Text (if bidder's mobile number is known): If checked, bidders participating in Online Bidding will automatically be sent a text message to their mobile phone if they are outbid.
    • The text message will include the package name and number the guest was outbid on, the current high bid, and a link to the package.

Example: "You have been outbid on package Napa Valley Backgrounds & Railways (101). The high bid is now 100. Visit: obdemo.ggo.bid/packageid”

  • Send via email (if bidder's email address is known): If checked, bidders participating in Online Bidding will automatically be sent an email if they are outbid.
    • The subject line will read as “Outbid Notice: [package name] and the email will include the package name number the guest was outbid on, the current high bid, and a link to the package.

Example: "You have been outbid on package Napa Valley Backgrounds & Railways (101). The high bid is now $100. Log into obdemo.ggo.bid/packageid
Tip: Greater Giving recommends only using text Outbid Notices or Email Outbid Notices, not both. In most Online Bidding events, text Outbid Notices are the best fit.

 

Welcome messages:

  • Send via Text (if bidder's mobile number is known): If checked, your guests will receive a “Welcome Text” with the link to your Online Bidding website. 
    • The Welcome message will read as follows: "Welcome [Project Display Name] supporter! You are at [Table #]. Start bidding: [link to the Online Bidding site]"

Example: "Welcome Gifts in Bloom supporter! You are at Table #1. Start bidding: https://obdemo.1.ggo.bid

  • Send via email (if bidder's email address is known): If checked, your guests will receive a “Welcome Email” with the link to your Online Bidding website.
    • The subject line will read as "Welcome to Online Bidding" and the email will read as follows: "Welcome [Project Display Name] supporter! You are at [Table #]. Click this link to start bidding."

Example: "Welcome Gifts in Bloom supporter! You are at Table #1. Click this link to start bidding."

Note: All emails from Online Bidding will be sent with your Organization name appearing as the “from name” at no-reply@ggo.bid.
